Description
The Forgotten Service – Angela Raby
The book traces the important, but often forgotten role of the Auxillary Ambulance Service during WWII in London, and other cities.
Over 10,000 volunteers collected the injured as well as the mutilated and dead in crudely adapted commercial vehicles.
Most of these volunteers were women, and the horrors they where willing to deal with, often after putting in a hard day at the munitions or aircraft factory, is commendable to this day.
The book contains text and photographs, and adds to our collective knowledge about WWII.
